The same small crew handles your Lisle floors from the first measurement to the last coat, no rotating subcontractors. We price everything line by line, keep dust and odors down with vacuum-assisted equipment (it doesn’t eliminate them entirely, so edges and corners leave a little fine residue), and finish with Bona and Loba products that are kid- and pet-safe once cured. We’ll come measure and give you a free estimate within 24 hours.

Dustless Sanding Technology

Our crew works with a dust containment setup and HEPA-filtered vacuums that pull 95% or more of fine particles right at the source. Lisle homes stay livable during the work, with cleaner air and less cleanup than old-school methods leave behind.

Finish Options Matched to Daily Use

Picking a finish is about more than sheen. We weigh wood species, foot traffic, kids, pets and cure time before suggesting a Bona or Loba system for your Lisle home, so you get a finish built for real life, not just good looks.

How Our Hardwood Flooring Contractor Adapts to Lisle, Illinois Homes

Lisle's mix of housing ages and its humid continental climate change what the floor actually needs; here is how we adjust the work by home type and condition.

1

Mid-Century Homes With Original Oak

Many Lisle ranches and split-levels from the 1950s through 1970s hide oak strip hardwood under carpet or old flooring. That wood can usually be restored and recoated rather than torn out. Where a home predates 1978, we follow EPA lead-safe (RRP) rules during any disturbance of old finishes.

2

Additions and Remodeled Spaces

Split-level additions and remodeled kitchens or family rooms often meet the original hardwood at an odd seam. We match species, grade and board width so new patches blend into the existing floor instead of standing out as a visible line.

3

Newer Subdivisions and Custom Builds

Lisle has seen plenty of 1980s through 2000s subdivisions plus newer custom and teardown-replacement homes, many with plywood subfloors. Before any work on wide-plank engineered or prefinished hardwood, we check the subfloor for flatness and moisture so seasonal movement does not open gaps later.

4

Condos and Townhomes on Slab

Slab construction is common in Lisle condos and townhomes near areas like Four Lakes. Glue-down or floating engineered systems paired with low-VOC finishes suit these floors, and we work around HOA quiet hours and building scheduling as needed.

5

Seasonal Humidity and Wood Movement

Lisle winters bring dry forced-air heat while summers run humid, and that swing moves wood. We let new material acclimate on site and aim to keep rooms between 30-50% humidity year-round to guard against cupping, gapping and crowning.

In many Lisle homes the original wood is worth saving rather than tearing out, but the only way to know for sure is for a professional hardwood flooring contractor to look at your subfloor and the condition of the boards up close.

If you want your floors to look awesome, have it done reliably and have very fair pricing, contact BigBroHardwood. We had our floors redone prior to moving in, the former owners didn't take care of the floors at all and now they look brand new!

We hired Donatas to refinish hardwood floors in our 56-year-old Darien house last week and we are very pleased with the results. We dreaded the project because we had to shuffle furniture into other rooms and because of my preconceived notion that the entire house would be covered in sawdust. Well, I have to say it was nowhere near as bad as anticipated! Donatas sealed off adjacent areas and kept the dust down to a minimum, vacuuming up at the end of each day. We were very impressed with his attention to detail and overall work ethic, going out of his way to fix an unexpected issue resulting in a very long day for him. Ours was a week-long project, followed by a five-day curing period and Donatas made it as painless as possible for us. We feel very comfortable giving Big Bro Hardwood and Donatas in particular a five-star review and highly recommend them!

Dan transformed our 50 year old floors. They now shine as if they are brand new! We love the color of stain and the commercial finish he offered. Knowing we have a large dog this was a perfect choice and feel it is a great value. Again we are so happy with the results. Dan was prompt, professional and accommodating.

We would highly recommend Big Bro Hardwood!

We hired Dan after talking to 2 other companies and couldn’t be happier!!
He did a fantastic job, he showed up on time and his price was very reasonable.
He sanded and stained our 2nd story oak floors from golden oak color to a beautiful Jacobean stain. I really wish I had gotten “before & after” pictures. Our floors look absolutely beautiful and unlike the crew who did our 1st floor, Dan was very careful not to get ANY dark stain splatters on our white trim.
His hard work is impeccable and he’s a great credit to his craft!
I highly recommend him.

Couldn’t be happier with the job Big Bro did. The previous owners of our home installed bright red maple (who knows why), and I’ve wanted to change it forever. Maple is hard to work with, and Dan did a beautiful job. He worked with us on breaking up the project into two parts to inconvenience us the least, and was always on time and cleaned up. The project timeline went exactly as expected (a rarity these days). While refinishing floors is a hassle by default, Dan made it as painless as possible. Check out our before and after of one room for the big difference (still needs paint!)

Frequently Asked Questions

How soon can a hardwood flooring contractor start our Lisle project after the estimate?

Most Lisle jobs get a start date 2-4 weeks after we sign the agreement, depending on our current schedule. Smaller jobs, like a quick buff and recoat, can sometimes fit in sooner without that wait. We set the exact date once we’ve seen your floors and talked through the scope, not before.

What happens during a free estimate visit at our Lisle home?

A few photos can give you a rough starting number, but the real quote comes from seeing your Lisle floors in person. We check the subfloor, measure the rooms, and talk through condition and scope with you. You’ll have a free estimate from us within 24 hours of that visit, broken down line by line.

Do you work in Lisle or just the bigger suburbs nearby?

We work directly in Lisle, not just the towns around it. Our crew also covers nearby suburbs like Downers Grove, Wheaton, Naperville, Darien and Bolingbrook, and other nearby suburbs, so Lisle sits right in the middle of our regular service area.

Is there a best time of year to have hardwood work done in a Lisle home?

Lisle’s dry winter heat and humid summers both move wood, so timing matters less than letting the material acclimate properly. We bring new wood into your home ahead of time and aim to keep rooms around 30-50% humidity. That said, work can happen any season as long as your heat or AC runs normally during and after.

How do you handle HOA rules when working in a Lisle condo or townhome?

Condo and townhome buildings in Lisle often have their own rules, and we plan around them. That typically means:

  • Quiet hours – scheduling louder work within building-approved windows
  • Shared area protection – covering hallways and common spaces during the job
  • Insurance documentation – we’re fully insured and can provide what your building requires

We handle this coordination so you don’t have to chase down paperwork yourself.
