We just had Big Bro Hardwood tackle a big job for us. We replaced the entire main floor with rift and quarter-sawn white oak!Demo on this project was a huge task. We had two types of old flooring. Part of it was an engineered hardwood which was glued directly to the subfloor, and part of it was a laminate floating floor on top of tile. Big Bro removed ALL of the old layers of flooring, down to the subfloor, repaired the subfloor where required, and put down new plywood underlayment.We decided to pay the extra for the rift and quarter sawn white oak material, and man was it worth it. The new flooring is absolutely beautiful. So much so that although we were originally going to stain it, we decided to go with a clear coat only. Dan (the owner) put down the best of the best, Loba 2k Duo. We couldn’t be happier with the final result and we know the floor is as well protected as possible.Lastly, the finishing. This also was a harder-than-usual task. Our home has all rounded corners. This meant all the trim had to be installed utilizing the 3-piece mitre method (picture attached). I don’t think it was Dan’s favorite part of the job, but the end result looks excellent.Dan’s entire crew took great care of us. All of them were professional, timely, and very hard working. It really reallly shows. Big Bro’s price for the job was very fair. I would have ZERO hesitation recommending Big Bro Flooring to anyone in need of their services. An excellent experience!

We just had Big Bro Hardwood rip out the existing flooring in 2 rooms, tie into our existing hardwood and then had everything sanded and refinished. We could not be happier with the results. The Big Bro Hardwood team was professional, punctual, and the quality of the work was outstanding. Even the trim work was done with incredible attention to detail. My wife and I highly recommend Big Bro Hardwood to anyone looking to refinish their hardwood floors!

We are beyond happy with our refinished floors! Our home was built in 1926, and the original floors now look absolutely brand new. The team was extremely meticulous and took great care throughout the entire process. We chose the Antique Brown stain, and the color turned out beautifully. It is exactly what we were hoping for. Communication was excellent from start to finish. Highly recommend this company to anyone looking to refinish their floors.

Out of dozens of contractors we called, Dan not only had the most reasonable pricing, but also the best responsiveness and professionalism.He was patient while I took a few days to decide on a stain color, and gave helpful advice along the way. Once we were ready, he and his team worked quickly and efficiently. They refinished our red oak floors on the first floor (including fixing water-damaged areas), installed brand new hardwood on the second floor along with new trim, refinished the stair treads, and coordinated a skilled craftsman for the new handrails and spindles. The results are fantastic—our floors look brand new and truly elevate the whole house.Dan was always easy to reach by phone or text, kept us informed, and delivered on every promise. Most importantly, he got all of the work done within a month, which was critical for us since we needed everything finished before moving in.We would absolutely recommend Dan to anyone looking for beautiful floors at a fair price.

We hired Donatas to refinish hardwood floors in our 56-year-old Darien house last week and we are very pleased with the results. We dreaded the project because we had to shuffle furniture into other rooms and because of my preconceived notion that the entire house would be covered in sawdust. Well, I have to say it was nowhere near as bad as anticipated! Donatas sealed off adjacent areas and kept the dust down to a minimum, vacuuming up at the end of each day. We were very impressed with his attention to detail and overall work ethic, going out of his way to fix an unexpected issue resulting in a very long day for him. Ours was a week-long project, followed by a five-day curing period and Donatas made it as painless as possible for us. We feel very comfortable giving Big Bro Hardwood and Donatas in particular a five-star review and highly recommend them!

Dan transformed our 50 year old floors. They now shine as if they are brand new! We love the color of stain and the commercial finish he offered. Knowing we have a large dog this was a perfect choice and feel it is a great value. Again we are so happy with the results. He did a fantastic job, he showed up on time and his price was very reasonable.
He sanded and stained our 2nd story oak floors from golden oak color to a beautiful Jacobean stain. I really wish I had gotten “before & after” pictures. Our floors look absolutely beautiful and unlike the crew who did our 1st floor, Dan was very careful not to get ANY dark stain splatters on our white trim.
His hard work is impeccable and he’s a great credit to his craft!

Couldn’t be happier with the job Big Bro did. The previous owners of our home installed bright red maple (who knows why), and I’ve wanted to change it forever. Maple is hard to work with, and Dan did a beautiful job. He worked with us on breaking up the project into two parts to inconvenience us the least, and was always on time and cleaned up. The project timeline went exactly as expected (a rarity these days). While refinishing floors is a hassle by default, Dan made it as painless as possible. Check out our before and after of one room for the big difference (still needs paint!)

We got a few estimates and decided to go with big bro hardwood. I am including the before we moved in photo of my ugly dining room with purple walls and honey oak and then the photo of it almost fully remodeled (I am finishing painting my windows white today they are only primed in the photo). Dan did an awesome job changing my dated honey oak dining room, living room and family room floors to a beautiful Jacobean color. I also had him gel stain my stair hand rails and balcony and it all came out amazing. Dan did a great job containing dust while refinishing my floors. He used a shop vac while sanding and also zip wall to ensure dust was contained. If we decide to put more hardwood in we are definitely will use big bro hardwood.

Dan and his crew just installed new floors in our living and dining rooms and they were awesome! We had existing hardwood floors that they refinished and we now have a seamless transition between rooms. Dan was patient with me when choosing the right stain color and was very knowledgeable on the products. We went with the magic oil stain and the finished product is beautiful.The crew was on time every day and completed the project in the estimated time and at the estimated cost. They brought in the flooring a month before the installation to allow it to acclimate. This was something other companies did not mention but I have heard is important. They kept everything clean and were friendly and nice to have around. I highly recommend them!

I highly recommend Big Bro Hardwood. Dan and his crew were very nice and professional. From the estimate to the end of the job they were on time and reasonable in price. I had two bedrooms, hallway and stairs restored and refinished in my 90 year old home. They were not afraid to tackle the repair work on my old floors where other contractors shied away. Amazing job! We had old dirt and pet stained carpet on top of damaged floors and they helped us bring them back to life. D was amazing. This is the first time that i needed to hire someone to help with home renovations & my experience with Big Bro Hardwood was exceptional. The quality of work is impeccable, but what I admired most is D’s honesty. I had bought flooring that was not conducive to home life, the wear and tear of it would of left me with needing new flooring within a year. D took the time to help me pick out better flooring and though it was more expensive, it will last me a longer than the previous choice. Now I just have to figure out how to post a pic! Dan Melnikovas with Big Bro Hardwood did a great job refinishing our hardwood floors on our entire first floor! We highly recommend him for any refinishing projects.We are incredibly happy with his work. His pricing is competitive, he is reliable, he showed up on time and completed our work in the timeframe we agreed upon.We wanted to transition from a mid-tone oak with red undertones to a rich dark chocolate-toned floor with no red undertones, and we achieved just that.Dan was diligent in preparing multiple samples for us prior to starting. We narrowed down our stain choice based on the samples. Then, after sanding down our existing floor, he meticulously mixed three sample stains on our actual floor to see how the color would take since each type of wood absorbs stains differently. This was a critical step for us. We never felt rushed. We were able to observe the stain colors with various finish/sheen levels in different lighting in our home prior to making our final selection.We are thrilled with the results! Dan is not only extremely professional and talented, but he also is AMAZING when it comes to keeping the work site clean! The dustless system Dan used ensured our home was impeccably clean during the sanding process.Excellent work!

BigBro, namely Donatas, did floor refinishing in our 2bd condo. Our floor was older floor with a lot of deep scratches and wide slots here and there. Donatas fixed the slots, changed some boards that now it looks like brand new floor. We have chosen white color which we knew is a risk since it is difficult color and complicate to put, however, he was able to deal with it and did an excellent job. Also, while working he was sending us pictures so we can see the results of each refinishing stage. Now we are enjoying our new bright floor. It is definitely a good value for money.

Excellent service- was surprised how fast job was done! We were remodeling our whole second floor, so we needed to split job in parts and move our stuff from one room to other. It took half day to finish flooring in our master bedroom and hallway and after we moved everything from the other two rooms, they came and did two kids room in like 8 hours. Easy to communicate, good quality. Would recommend to everyone.
