Before and After

Here we will tell you about a project we recently completed in Wheaton, Illinois. It was a big one, 1,350 square feet that had seen better days. The old oak floors didn’t look great anymore because they were squeaky and had big water damage. That floor was beyond saving.
So, after talking with the homeowners (they’d just moved here from Colorado—welcome to Illinois!), we came up with a plan: out with the old floors and in with brand-new, beautiful 5-inch-wide red oak planks. These wider planks have such a modern vibe.
It wasn’t just a matter of ripping out the old floors and slapping down the new ones. Some parts of the subfloor were in rough shape and needed fixing or replacing, especially in those squeaky areas. We added a ton of screws to get everything sturdy and quiet.
The homeowners also had a specific request. They wanted the floors stained in Bona Early American because they liked it’s warm tone. It’s an amazing choice and paired perfectly with the red oak. After staining, we finished everything with a durable finish: Loba 2K Duo.
This was definitely a time-intensive project—demoing the old floors, fixing up the subfloor, gluing down the new hardwood, sanding, staining, and sealing. But it was so worth it. The change was amazing, and the homeowners loved the results.
If you’re thinking about upgrading your floors, just know that a project like this can completely change the look and feel of your home. And we are here to do it for you!
