Before and After
This home in Burr Ridge needed some serious work, but the results were well worth it. The project started with removing old tiles from the kitchen and hallway. The glue left behind was cleaned up using a diamond concrete sanding machine to ensure a smooth and clean surface.
In the family and dining rooms, the old Oak floors were in bad shape, and the subfloor was uneven compared to the rest of the house. To fix this, the homeowners decided to replace both the floors and the subfloor. Our team installed new plywood to level the area and prepare it for fresh flooring.
Once the prep work was done, we installed 5-inch White Oak hardwood floors using a nail-down method, paired with Bona Quantum R851 adhesive for extra strength and stability.
The staircase also got a modern makeover. We replaced the old handrails and posts with sleek square posts and new handrails, along with stylish iron balusters. The stair treads were sanded down and refinished to match the new look. To complete the update, we installed brand-new 5-inch baseboards throughout the home for a clean and polished finish.
The second floor wasn’t left out either. The old 2 ¼” Red Oak hardwood floors were in rough shape, but with professional hardwood floor refinishing services from Big Bro Hardwood, they now look like they’ve been completely renewed.
We stained the floors with Bona White and finished them with Pallmann X-Gold Satin for a perfect, modern look.
The homeowners loved the transformation, and their home is now refreshed and elegant from top to bottom! All thanks to the expertise and dedication of the Big Bro Hardwood team. We love our work and are happy when you are happy with your new floors!
