The main thing to plan for is keeping off the freshly finished floors. You can walk on them in socks the next day, move back to light foot traffic with clean shoes after 48-72 hours, and bring heavier furniture back after 3-5 days. Area rugs should wait 7-14 days to let the finish fully cure.

Gray wood and surface-level discoloration usually sand out cleanly. Deep black pet stains are trickier because the urine has soaked into the wood fibers and sometimes the subfloor beneath.
